Lessons in Loaf 2024

The Autumn term is rushing along, which means the next generation of Year 3 pupils are getting to enjoy Lessons in Loaf, coordinated by our Steward Cassie Liversidge.

A happy day was spent at Chisenhale Primary today, where the children stripped ears of wheat from straw, threshed, winnowed, ground the flour and then produced delicious loaves of homemade bread.

Cassie has worked with the school for many years now, and it is was lovely to see how much the children were looking forward to following in older sibling's footsteps to make their own loaves.

As well as learning the journey of wheat, this process also teaches the children about food hygiene, farming, the importance of precise measurements and more. Educational AND delicious.

The project is partially funded by the Benevolent Fund of the Worshipful Company of Bakers.
