The Master & Wardens
Each year a new Master is elected to lead the Worshipful Company of Bakers. He is supported by four Wardens, from whose number future Masters will be elected, and his immediate predecessor, who serves for one year as Deputy Master.
Master: Stephen Fenton
Stephen joined the Worshipful Company of Bakers in 1986.
He is a Chartered Accountant in private practice having qualified in 1975 and becoming a partner six months later. He is also a Company Director of a number of organisations.
He is married to Sue and they have 5 daughters, 9 grandchildren and 3 large dogs. They live in Pinner in Middlesex and are very keen on theatre and fine dining - but not usually on the same day!
Some 20+ years ago, Stephen took over the finances of his local kindergarten, transforming its financial performance from a troubling loss to a substantial profit. This led to him becoming the Treasurer of his Synagogue with similar results and, in turn, to Treasurer and then Vice President of the United Synagogue, the largest such body in the UK.
He has a very significant interest in Freemasonry with several past and present roles in the organisation. He also has a keen interest in Charity and Fundraising for several organisations and has had roles on several trustee boards in both administrative oversight and appropriate dispersal of funds.
Stephen does absolutely no sporting activities though he did train with the Olympic swimming coach in his early teenage years and is still a strong swimmer. Golf remains an anathema to him, but his dogs do like the green open spaces. He enjoys watching cricket provided that there is a good supply of Malbec close at hand.
