William Bowen receives his Journeyman certificate

The Worshipful Company of Bakers made a significant step forward in championing excellence within the Baking Trade last week, as it joined the Master Certificate Scheme, run by City Livery Companies in partnership with City & Guilds, and established to recognize exemplary vocational skills in livery company supported trades.

The new Bakers' scheme has three levels, Apprentice, Journeyman and Master, which honour growing technical expertise, career progression, and the mentoring of the next generation.

Our very first Certificate was awarded to William Bowen of British Bakels, who received his Journeyman certificate from the Lady Mayor Dame Susan Langley in a glittering ceremony at the mayoral residence, Mansion House.

In receiving the award, William was particularly commended for his generous contributions to professional development within the industry and keen interest in developing future talent.

More details of the Scheme can be found here: https://lnkd.in/eCHKMcFf
Applications for the 2027 awards will open in Autumn 2026.
